A Safe Place to Land
Helping Oklahoma women leave domestic violence to find safety, stability, and a true fresh start.
I want women to feel safe and stable enough to actually leave: not just inspired, not just “empowered,” but physically able to get out.
Every day, women make the brave decision to leave domestic violence, but bravery isn’t always enough, because leaving doesn’t just take courage. It takes money. It takes resources. It takes a place to go. And too often, those things don’t exist.
Women stand at the edge of freedom with their children in their arms ready to leave but financially trapped with nowhere safe to land. Not because they lack strength, but because they lack support.
During a conversation with a former colleague at Intervention and Crisis Advocacy Network, she shared something that stopped me in my tracks. “We’re finally receiving more donations than ever before, which means we can help women start over. But the funds approved for each woman still aren’t enough to cover deposits, utilities, and a home big enough for her children. We end up giving women hope without the resources to actually leave.”
That broke my heart. Women aren’t lacking courage; they’re ready. They’re trying. They simply don’t have enough financial support to walk out the door safely.
405 For Her exists so that can change.
